Default Porsche Workshop CD

It looked original enough and I thought I was buying some old stock, but don't anybody, especially the newcomers, waste your money for something you can download on the web for free (I wanted an original).

Its a copy, incomplete and not as advertised.

Porsche 993 Workshop CD

Does anybody know where I can get an original? Did they even come on a CD?

Alex,

Porsche never released the factory workshop manuals on CD, only in printed volumes as supplements to the full set.

AFAIK, they are long out of print so you might find a set either here or E-bay.

There is a set of the printed ones currently on Ebay starting at $300, BIN $500.

You can find the PDF version for free on the interwebs if you look hard enough... And yes, it is a copy, and not legitimate. Also some PDF versions are better than others.

Thanks everyone for the info.

Makes sense. BMW didn't have a CD manual back then for my 1995 3 series either. In fact it was near impossible to get the dealer to sell me the microfiche.

Well I just spent $25 for something I already had...could be worse if I needed a set of $500 plug wires.

I've found two or three so far on various sites. They all look to be copies of the same scans.

Does anyone have a link to one of the better ones?

This is a chance for Porsche to make more $$$ if they put out a clear and complete up to date version on CD. I'd pay $50 no problem.

I recently found a copy of Inglorious Basterds and because it wasn't an official licensed product I decided to make more copies for my friends. I'm typing this from Rikers, waiting for my wife to bail me out...

I think I'll start buying them new from Pelican for $395 and sell them on Ebay for $500, that's a pretty good markup.

See now your twisting my words. I have yet to receive the CD. For all I know from reading the OP, some guy compiled bunch of public domain stuff and sold them on CD. Now you are going to tell me that is the same is pirating a Hollywood Movie?

Really? Please explain to me then what is the difference between someone scanning Porsche's manuals and then distributing them and someone copying a Hollywood movie and sharing it with the world.

Porsche's manuals are as much of a public domain as the torrent file for Inglorious Basterds.

If you need a refersher on Public Domain:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain

Like I said, for all I know the disc I bought is composed of public domain stuff. A CD bought off eBay isn't as definite as a Hollywood movie.
