Default Check Valve question

I was perusing the archives on the SAI issue and I came across a post by Mike J of PCar Workshop in 2006. In his post he recommends replacing the Check Valve regularly as a means to prevent carbon buildup.

My first question is, what is "regular" replacement? How often and how difficult and costly is this? Second, is there an update on whether or not the Check Valve causes the SAI issue or worn valve guides?

Best regards,
Don

"Regular" is hard to define. My best guess would be every 3 years. It's pretty hard to get to, but the part is pretty cheap. A few hours of labor at most. Likely closer to 1-2 hrs.

I suspect the consensus opinion is that the SAI clogging can be caused by both/either bad check valve or worn valve guides. If you think about it, either could logically lead to this problem. The point is that neither has been ruled out as a culprit.

With a bad check valve, exhaust gases (high pressure) can travel back through the heads through the SAI blower then into the air filter box (at a vacuum). I've always suspected this is the main culprit, but that's just speculation.
