Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement to "go for it".
I was bored with the slk after only a short while of ownership. Somehow I don't think this is going to happen with the 993. I keep on going into the garage to take a look at her like a child!!!. Not sure if the "Old Benz" is too happy though.

Because of the title of the thread I thought I'd post this photo on the day the slk met the 993 and I'm sure it realised it was not coming back home with me. lol.
Great forum.

I don't think you will regret your decision. Well, maybe the tip .

Just kidding. Enjoy the new ride!

It's almost like the 993 was taunting the SLK. And don't let your boyfriend drive the 993! He won't like the Tip.

Smart move not letting that "WIMP" comment put you in a 6 speed that you didn't want. I did, and wish I had bought a Tip as I'm mostly in really thick traffic all day long, shifting constantly. In any case, the 993 is SO much nicer looking than the SLK, to me. It's a true classic, just like your MB, which looks amazing. Do you have more pics, inside and out of the Benz?

Congrats. Where do you live by the way?

Nope. For some the Tip bashing never gets old. But for people who don't define their planetary existences by what gear box is bolted to their car, a Tip is a fine choice. Enjoy.

Indeed, some of us think fun cars should have manual transmissions, but we will get over it. Do you play Greek bouzouki, Celtic bouzouki, or another flavor?

Thanks Steve.
It would have been very difficult for anyone to change my mind. I knew what I wanted and was willing to pay a premium above a manual car even though supposedly a manual is worth more.
On picking her up, late friday afternoon rush-hour, it took me 2 hours to drive from south London to north London approx. 20 miles. After not having driven a manual in a fews years, I would have ended up in hospital with dislocated knee-caps!!!!!!

If you like I shall post some pics of the old merc, at the weekend (if the forum moderators don't mind).
