Stereo upgrade options with iPod for '97 993
I did two searches and the most recent post I could find was from 2007. I figure 3 years in electronics is about 120 human years, so I'm wondering if anyone out there has more current information? I just bought Gordo993's "Trixie" and I want to be able to plug my iPod touch into a stereo without significant signal degradation and with the most user-friendly interface. Must fit stock opening (at least I hope so). Satellite radio not required, as I don't want a 3rd subscription. GPS is +/- as I'll usually know where I'm going when driving this car. However, if a "great" system comes with GPS (or satellite; I don't need to activate it), I don't mind having it built in. I won't be doing the work myself but hope to have the components ready when it arrives at my mechanics for a post purchase once over. Price is not a major concern if it has what I want.
Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Glare is a problem in these cars. I have Alpines in both my pcars and like them. Very good iPod interface and the display doesn't have as much glare as most. Almost all heads are too flashy nowdays, IMO, but the Alpines aren't too bad. Look at the 9887 or similar. Crutchfield is good to check.

I put in an Alpine 9886 last year. It has the rear Ipod cable which can be run to the glovebox or along side the tunnel on the passenger side. The cable comes out of the little access panel cover.

Thanks for the info. A couple of the reviewers on Crutchfield had Alpines and recommended Pioneer. Anyone have experience with these? The Alpines look like they'll fill the bill for the iPod plug in.
