95 bought new from the dealer in late '96. Car was not moving so dealer was going to ship it out of state to sell it, made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
70k miles, drive it winter and summer.
Replaced steering rack and clutch slave under warranty; brakes 5000 miles ago.
Still as much fun as the day I drove it off the showroom floor.

I would've loved to have bought mine new in 1995 but I was a poor college student. I couldn't have afforded a model of a 993 then.

I've noticed that well off people usually don't have anything very long. They usually need to have the latest for reasons I won't get into.

I still have my 1990 BMW R100 GS that I bought new.

You drive a mere 5000 miles per year?

So it looks like this time around there's more original owners coming out of the woodwork here on Rennlist.

I'm surprised how many of you are left!

Calvin nailed it. Plus, Anchorage is a small town, only a few miles to work. I do take the "long way" home every evening....and ride a Harley in the summer "for the sole reason that I put fewer miles on the precious car"....and she bought that. You guys feel free to try that line if it helps.

Same here. My daily driver gets far less than the usual amount of miles simply because I spend fun time on my motorcycle in the summer of which 5 to 6 weeks of that is spent touring Europe and the Alps on my other motorcycle over there.

It was one of my concerns when buying the 993; how often would it get used?

I bought a Ford F-150 new in 1997. Still have it and still love it, although it is slowly disassembling itself as the years go by.

I'm the third owner of my 993 and hopefully, my kids will be the fourth.

Default Original owner..

Ordered my Carrera S coupe in May '97 with a late August build date. The car arrived in late October. The full leather black interior w/hard back heated sport seats continue to smell as new.

I’m sure for many of us the “993 build sheet” was committed to memory. Christ,,, to this day my wife recalls a few Porsche paint codes. Watch! Hey Schatz,,,??? What is LY7U a code for? "Why,,, Stone Grey Metallic..!" "You tell those Rennlist.com dudes I'm at the ready for a Paint Code Challenge."

I drove my wife nuts with the 993 nonsense for six months prior to ordering the coupe.

I too am an original owner. I ordered my C2S and picked it up at Jim Ellis in Atlanta in November 1997. Needless to say, I still love it.

Walk softly and carry a big stick. Lifetime Rennlist member, original owner who averages 1 post per year. Love this guy!
