Ralph....did you feel you got 'worked' or caught up in the BJ hipe. I would love to attend but my weak disposition might make me pay too much or buy a car - or cars! - I couldn't affort...

Overdraft - I did not get "worked" - I knew the value of the car and I know I paid more then market price, but these are getting more rare, I liked the interior and I have not owned a 930 before so I thought I would take a chance. I will keep it for a year or so and then probably sell it at BJ in Fla in a year. It is a good car, low miles and very original and that is what attracted me to it initially. It is complete and all original - no mods etc and a one owner for more then 22 years. I did the CarFax to make sure before I bid. So will I lose money - absolutely - do I care - absolutely not. I will be 62 in a week so Happy Birthday to me. By the way - I see you are waiting on a 2010 turbo with PDK - I am way jealous of you. The PDK in a turbo will be a thing of joy I believe. I will be interested in hearing how you like it after you have had a month or so to enjoy it.

Great thread. Would love to see more detailed pics of the Merc and the truck though. I love those old Mercedes convertibles. I don't even know what channel this auction was on. I'd like to catch some of it next time it's happening on TV. Did you ever think you'd end up with 3 vehicles before going there?

EDIT: I see that it was on the Speed Channel. I'll have to check that out for next time.

Nice 930 by the way...

Cool wheels. Maybe you'll bring it to the April Meet and Drive?

Dam! Ralph! That white 930 will look sitting side by side with your red 993 congrats. Did you make it on camera during speeds coverage?

I just watched the footage that I TIVO'D and he was televised buying the car. Well done! As the market pics up in the next year you could stand to even make some money on the 930. You never know...There was a non L-79 67 Nova that sold for $137,000 dollars this year. It only takes two guys that both want the car and your golden.

Is the 930 considered an early "Supercar," whatever that means?

So now I am a TV "star" huh! Well that was not the reason I bought it - guess I will have to wait for the repeat on Speed because I did not have the DVR set up. Damn! I should get the car next week and will try to get a picture of the 993, the 996 turbo and the 930 all together and post it here. I am headed down to FLA the first week of April for the next Barrett Jackson and my broker is very worried. I hope to have the MB 350 SL I bought last week sold by the time I go to FLA so I roll the $$$ into some other "steal". Watch this space.

Ralph, congrats on your new cars, very nice.

Are you up on Mercedes SL values? My father in law is the original owner of a 73' 450SL with around 75,000 miles. Any idea of what it is worth?

Congratulations! My wife just loved the 'can can red' interior. The announcers spent quite a bit of time on the car and I think you did real well to be honest. How many of those cars are out there with such low mileage and stock? I would love to own it. Outstanding!

I really need to find a set of GP White wheels for my 930... Looks great... Are those factory boxed rockers?

Here are the photo's off the BJ web site of the Chevy. The cars are on the truck to me now - should be here in 7 - 10 days. The rockers on the 930 are not boxed - that appeals to me as I am not a big "bling" guy - no slant nose etc for me. Just my taste - not a judgment of others.
