Hi Gents
Something to consider is that if the seals will receive more heat exposure with the alloy covers? ie they are surrounded on all sides by metal rather than plastic which
I would think has less thermal conductivity, I guess one could argue that the alloy covers may act as a heat sink.
Also the Hargett and the Eagle day do not appear to have such a good environmental seal on the plug sockets. This was particularly noticeable on the upper covers, so much so that I re fitted the original plastic ones, of course we have a lot of rain here in the UK

Speaking solely for myself, I was not impressed by the finish of the Hargett Valve Covers. The edges were very sharp on the set I received and needed a fair bit of massaging with 800-grit sandpaper to take some of the sharpness out. The fit however, was quite good.

That was my first impression when I first saw them. If I did have issues with my OEM valve covers, I would certainly go with the Eagle Day units.
And the bottom line is, its the seals that need replacing and not the valve covers if the covers are leaking. I'd bet that is the case the vast majority, if not all of the time.
My OEM covers are still bone dry in their second season. Its amazing what new valve cover seals will do.

And you hit the nail on the head... the value for the price is there.
