Technically the question was what would it sell for...

So $72,000 minus the 8% seller fee ($5760) means the seller got:

$66,240.00 for the car.

Went back and checked and in a strange twist of fate the original poster that started this said

$66,000.

^Erik, I think the auction works like this:

Strike Price ($72K) + 10% Auction Buyers Fee ($7.2K) = $79.2K

At least this is what they were saying on the show last night.

Nice Targa, but I thought the 31 Model AA mail truck soon after might have went for more.

Have a friend there right now and he called me last night. Said in person it's beyond belief what these fools are paying...........he's never seen that many gold chains and breast implants in one place.

I cannot believe it went for that much personally given BJ charges.

Please excuse me if I made any mistakes in this list, but I compiled everyones guesses at the sales price:

Academictech $46,250.00
mongrelcat $47,993.00
USerA $49,250.00
CorrdoBrit $50,000.00
trophy $53,000.00
scoulson $58,000.00
Steve 94C4s $59,299.99
sdcabrio $59,525.00
AtlJimK $62,500.00
96_993TT $63,000.00
timothymoffat $64,000.00
vincer77 $65,000.00
blitz928 $67,500.00
rsr 91128 $68,000.00
Terry Adams $70,000.00
gbmCarmG993 $71,000.00
No Htwo O $71,500.00
BlaineS $72,500.00
Barney1 $75,000.00
Verhag $77,500.00
matt777 $80,000.00
HHChin $88,000.00
Sonny1 $98,000.00
Monique $100,000.00
LAT $45,000.00
BlaineS $58,700.00

Average $66,173.77
Min $46,250.00
Max $100,000.00
Median $66,250.00

I took the amounts but did not try to differentiate between fees included or not included. So assuming that we collectively have a good pulse of Porsche 993 values, the car went about $5k over it's "fair value" of around $66.2k or approx 9% high.

Cheers,
Vince

PS - I excluded the high and low guesses of $6.6k and $1.2 million

BJ's web site says hammer price then 8% seller's commission. ????

The buyer (bidder) pays hammer price plus 10 % so he paid $79,200 + tax.

The seller is paid the hammer price less 8% so the seller got $66,240 minus the listing fee ( this varies by the time slot in the auction, prime times cost more)

So BJ collects the $13,000 difference.
