hahaha ...not in SoCal you wouldn't. Photo radar, laser this/that, speed traps...
Cruise control is your best friend here ...and oddly enough in this type of traffic.

No harm at all, in fact it is less wear on the gearbox (it's one less shift).

Some cars used to FORCE you to skip gears, for fuel economy reasons (Corvettes used to have that).
