Default Fire extinguisher mounts - Rennline vs. Stable Energies

I've read several of the old threads on fire extinguisher mounts and it seems like many people have purchased the Stable Energies mount. I've been looking at that mount as well as the Rennline mount and wondered if there was any compelling reason to spend the extra $$$ on the Rennline mount. Are there any functional/aesthetic differences that justify the difference in price between the two mounts?

Stable Energies. Make sure you specify if your seat has power or not.

Unfortunately they're out of stock on the manual seat version and aren't sure when they're going to have more. That's why I was looking for alternatives. But if it's the best mount for the money, I'll probably just wait until they've got some in stock.

I have an SE mount I am not using at the moment, but AFAIK, it is for power seats. I'll probably install it at some point.

Considered it, but I've heard that it limits fore-aft seat travel.

I have the BK for a manual seat. I attached the FE mount between the slider and the side mounts with the bolts that secure the side mounts to the slider. On the rear bolts I simply put a washer that is the same thickness as the FE mount so the slider can still operate smoothly. Otherwise there would be a slight downward slope within the slider which would cause it to bind. Works like a charm.

Alternatively, I am familar with the Rennline product and they are made beautifully (they're local to me). If they had it available when at the time when I needed it I would have gone with it instead.

Smile + XX for BK mount!

I have had other mounts but the design of the BK mount makes it nearly impossible to pop loose with a routine encounter. But they are damn spendy.

In the future, when I get some "funny" money, I will sell my BK mount and extinguisher and add a remote with plumbing. THis set up goes off automatically when needed...let's say you are knocked unconscious and the car is on fire...good thing if the fire system goes off as needed.

Under a 3+ G load such as a major impact, I think even the BK extinguisher will come loose...probably not the case with a trunk mounted system.

Chances are, if you are at the track, and there is a fire, a corner worker will be nearby...let's hope so.

I have the BK R-2015 for sale. I have the power seats so it don't work on mine.
Is $50 plus shipping fair?

Default Another approach

Not what is being discussed, but WTH, another approach for non-trackies. Mounted this way to be inconspicuous but easy and quick release.

Made a plywood base to which the quick-release is attached and bolted the base to the floorpan. Covered the base in carpet (under the pictured mat). Mounted in this manner so OEM rear mat isn't cut; the bolt on is under the mat, and the mat can be slipped out to vacuum. Quick-release pin is filled forward. Easy to get to and easy to release.
