Unfortunately I think it's only a matter of time before ALL of our driving is monitered and policed in such a way that speeding will be impossible. The technology is alreday here.

Does anyone know of a device which warns you of an approaching Soren camera based on your gps coordinates? I ask because there is such a thing many ppl (including me) use when driving in taiwan - it's a nifty little device built into your rear view mirror - when you approach a speed camera it warns you audibly "warning, speed camera 500 meters ahead". Very usefull , everyone just just slows down in front of it, then gets right back on the thottle when they pass it. There are free software updates available too.

Some of our members from Germany may confirm that there are speeding cameras positioned over some sections of the autobahn which have speed zones, sometimes in unmarked vans on overpasses.

Why thankyou sir. In hindsight, my choice of words wasn't quite right. Feeling a wee bit under the weather unfortunately.

It's possible to do this with a normal Garmin unit and a list of red light cameras. The latter is available through some third party websites. I had it installed on my last Nuvi.

My wife got nailed by one of these things on I-5 South of Seattle in our Audi about 3 months ago. Oddly the ticket we received in the mail wasn't a "speeding" ticket. It was a non-moving violation much like a parking ticket which doesn't carry an insurance hit which was nice. I'm fine with the fine since there's no hit on insurance. It was around $125 for doing 14 mph over. They use conventional radar but she had the Valentine turned down and didn't hear it go off. Sent us pictures and a link to a video on the WSDOT website. Big Brutha is Watching...

Welcome to arizona boys, its already all in action out here. Our red light cameras double as speed cameras. We also have stationary cameras on the freeways ready to snap your picture if your 11mph over the limit. What's really fun though, is the mobile camera vans that like to hid behind random trees and bridge supports. 11mph over the limit and say cheese.

Yup, Arizona sucks when it comes to Camera's Stationary and Mobile (Van's).

11 MPH over?? Where, Phoenix? Count yourself as LUCKY! Don't come to Prescott Valley/Prescott. Here the vans ticket you at 6 over. In our subdivision there is a road that is three miles long that we have to take to get down to where the homes are. We even have cops hiding in the bushes along this road with radar guns to catch menopausal women in their prius' doing when they are in a hurry to get home to go pee. It's unreal. They have us all so paranoid that many folks drive 15mph UNDER the speed limit to play it safe.
