You guys are bringing me down. I'm starting to think about how soon I can get my car out. Its -32C with windchill this morning and I think I'm just fantasizing.

+1. ALL 993's rust in these area's. It's not a matter of 'if' it's a matter of time. After 10 years the seals that prevent water into and under body flanges, especially the windows, are shot and need to be replaced. They are no longer sealing against moisture and rust starts forming in the nooks and crannies, even on low mileage garage queens. And it seems to be worse for cars in dry climates because the sun and heat contributes to the seals shrinking and drying out faster.

Why subject it to the salt, cinders, sand and drivers that can't dirve in the dry let alone the snow?
Better safe than sorry.
The C4s is safe and sound while tucked away in a heated garage until early April.

Just drive it. (I'd recommend at least a set of rear winter contact snow tires - with studs if your state allows them. With 4 such tires on your car, you will enjoy driving it year round and it will never get stuck in snow - unless you get it stuck (high up) with all 4 wheels off the ground on a mound of snow.

Above 70 deg. every day here this week. But alas, my 993 is on jackstands, has been since Nov., while I await my tranny rebuild to finish up. Should be done tomorrow. But then I'm riding to LA and Vegas for a week. I'll get this thing on the road again someday.

Those body shells from the factory that 911Jetta posted are really cool, but as they are always sitting they do NOT get subjected t anything but water and freezing water. In other words, no salt. They just salted Nashville this week, so mine is in for awhile but I drove it for an hour on Monday so I am good for now.
