For those of you following my previous post, I was able to negotiate a very fair settlement with Travelers insurance company after negotiating with them for two weeks.
Moral of the story- You do not have to accept their initial total loss settlement price, but be prepared to make a strong case for why your car is worth more.
Thanks to all who offered their condolences on the loss of my car. It really helped sharing with the RL community.
Also, many asked to purchase the wreck. Unfortunately, Travelers said they had a buyer lined up and wanted in the low 20K range for the car.
And so, a new car search begins........

Glad to hear you got a fair settlement. Did they offer you the option to buy it back? The engine alone is worth north of $25k then you have the trans and associated other bits. Someone (one of the dismantlers) will make alot of money off that thing.
Good luck in your search for its replacement!

They didn't really offer me a choice. Said they already had a buyer lined up.
I guess I could have tried to outbid the other buyer, but I don't have the time, storage space, or mechanical inclination to tackle such a project. I'll stick to my profession and let the salvage guys stick to theirs!

I am glad you got a fair deal for your car and that Travelers Insurance worked with you. Actually two weeks isn't all that long of a time to be in negotiations.
Good luck on your new 993 search

I wrecked a few cars and always have to fight for more money. As long as you can prove your case you'll usually get pretty damn close to what you want. Just takes time and the ability to hang up on them.
Enjoy your hunting, that will be a hard car to replace. Not to many center phone console cars out there.
