Default Which trickle charger do you prefer?

During the nasty weather months of January and February, I plan to leave my car safely in the garage for weeks at a time, perhaps longer. I'm looking into getting a trickle charger to keep the battery ready to go.

Which one do people like? Battery Tender Plus? Battery Tender Jr.? Other? What are the things to consider when purchasing a trickle charger?

TIA,
Don

CTEK 3300 if for one car. Hands down best charger I've used. OEM for the Porsche one. Has an AGM function too!

Just an outlier likely, but a friend boiled over two batteries using the factory charger. Not sure what he switched to. I use the Battery Tender Jr and have had no issues.

I use the Battery Tender Plus for some time now and have not had any issues on various cars, bikes, ATV's, etc. Currently is on the 993.

How do you hook them up....are you able to use a plug to the cigarette lighter? Or...do you have to run the plug under an open hood...? I need to pick one of these up.

Battery Tender Plus here as well. Have used them for years. Made by a company called Deltran. Hook up to battery and has a lead that plugs in to the charger. Can't cross connect or overcharge.

I have the Plus model. Here is the link: http://batterytender.com/automotive/...-at-1-25a.html

Been using Battery Tenders on my bikes forever. Got a Porsche for my 993 and will probably switch to BT Plus now that I know Mike used one (note past tense.)

Battery Tender Jr is always on bike and occasionally on the Cab when I know I won't be driving it for a few days.

I had a Battery Tender Jr. die an early death and I am slow to forgive. I use the Porsche one with the cigarette lighter plug. So easy. Close the passeger door right over the thin wires, doubtlessly causing untold amounts of damage to both wires and door seal.

^^ Nice Dick Trickle reference. ^^^ Best race car driver name ever. I think he even smoked in the car! I also like the name Willie T. Ribbs.

I grabbed this Black & Decker one. They are pretty cheap and get the job done. I think you can pick one up at HD. It has the quick connect stuff too.

+1 on Battery Tender Jr. Use on my motorcycle and my 912. Soon to install on the 993.
