+1 on the Porsche charger. Works well and, as Chuck said, no problem closing the door over the wires. There's enough of a gap there so that the wires don't get crushed.

Did he use the one that plugs into the cigarette lighter or the one that connects directly to the battery? I think that they're made by different companies (but I could be wrong)...

Yup! I bought mine before the Plus model came out. Have used them on Bikes, cars and boats. The only thing I dislike about them is the metal casing, I just think they could be made of impact plastic in case you hit the car with it although I've not done that yet.

I have been using my CTEK XS 3600 since 2003. Have not had to buy a new battery since then. It is exactly the same charger that Porsche sells under its own brand. Connection lead with cigarette plug is available as accessories from CTEK.

Using one labeled Surecare, made by VDC Electronics, for the last three years. Can't recall where I got it. No issues.

It came with battery post connections. I bought lamp wire, a male/female connector and a cigarette plug at Radio Shack so it now plugs into the lighter. As my 993 is a DD, I hook it to the charger once a month or so. The rest of the time the charger is plugged into the lighter on my old M6.

I use this one from Sears.

Works great. I wired it directly to my battery with the quick disconnect provided. When I park the car, I open the hood, connect the charger, then manually close the catch in the latch mechanism, (this turns off the trunk light) close the hood, (with the latch already closed, it locks with approx 1/2 inch clearance for the wire.) PERFECT!
Now just release the hood from inside the car when you want to unlock\open the trunk.

I use a Battery Tender on my R1200GS and a Schumacher on the p-car. They both do the same thing and work great.

Hard to beat the price on the Schumacher.

The best $60 I have ever spent.

A battery has never failed me

I use this OEM charger when the car is in the garage.
