Default 97 C4S What were factory stock wheels?

Can anyone tell me what were the stock or factory wheels on a 1997 C4S? If you have a picture, even better....just curious...

Thank you,

denny

Solid spoke Technology wheels were the most common, I have also seen them with Sport classic II. All of which are 18".

IIRC from previous discussions, the 'standard' wheel offering was a 17" cup, but hardly any cars were delivered that way.

I don't think a 17" would clear the brakes.

hmmmm. Learn something new each day. I thought those were called the sport classic and the only difference between these and the turbo is that the turbo's are hollow??? Thanks!

The 17" cup wheels were standard on the C2S, but not on the C4S. The C4S had solid spoke 18" twists and on the C2S, the 18" hollow spoke twists were optional.

The 17" cup wheels will clear the big reds. Not a common combo though but it works .

I don't have a pic handy but the hollow spokes are very easy to differentiate from the solid spoke twists. the hollow spokes are smooth and flat on the back side of each spoke. the solid spoke wheels have a deep groove on both edges of each spoke running the length of the back of each spoke. very obvious.

I elected to go with 996 Turbo wheels on my 993. IMHO they have a nicer look that the stock 993 turbo wheels. And, they are dead cheap. I paid $600 plus a $100 to repair some curb rash on one of them. There are a lot out there for sell and they are the right off set for your C4S.

18" Technology wheels with the "4S" cap were standard on all '96-'98 C4S's, at least in the US. They appear just as on the Twin Turbos but I beleive they are NOT hollow spoke (The Twin Turbo models were all hollow spoke), but not 100% certain. Sport Classics (among others) were also available but not usually seen until late '97 and '98 cars. Also, I think that 17" will fit as I just found my '96 "Are you listening" promo vid and they show the Pikes Peak 993 Twin Turbo on 17" Cup II's...not sure if the car had brake mods or not.

I might be wrong but I remember some solid spoke Technology wheels to have smooth back sides. The easy way to tell was a steel valve stem on the hollow spokes.
