well, speaking from personal experience I got a speeding ticket in New Zealand on our honeymoon and decided to ignore it

Months later, I received a charge on my credit card for the fine plus late fees. They must have got in touch with the car rental company and got my card info.

We all live in a fiscal global tyranny now Hombre, pay it or pay more.........these systems are designed to get your money out of your pocket and put it in theirs, oh and don't forget it's all for your 'safety' because they care................

I received a speed camera ticket from Belgium. Two pages of which the first recited the offense. Second page had a few questions giving me the opportunity to refute it.

I drew a diagonal line through the second page, and wrote at the bottom:

1. I am guilty.
2. How much?
3. Can I send you my CC # ?

Faxed it back and never heard from them again.

Personally I have no experience with speeding.
My dung beetle couldn't pull the skin off a rice custard - let alone drive over 60km/h.
I love the advertisements and mantra that this is NOT revenue raising - its a safety matter.

I have however heard from a mate of a mate of a mate that if you ignore it will not go away. The OSR will chase you. Its REVENUE. That's their job.

Pay the fine - at least you wont lose any points.

Curious - what State where you in?

Simon.
+1001, and I say that as a former Sydney sider and one who will probably return there in 10 years - you must be constantly monitoring your posterior because if you fart that extra thrust could get you a ticket and usually in a place with zero traffic accidents but usually in a very good place to catch people out. And as to paying, for this small amount of money, why bother with all this time in trying to work out what to do? For me, if I am not deducted points I am dancing.

Default foreigners speeding in OZ

At $84 for 21 klicks over the speed limit in a built up zone something smells funny it should have been 3 points and 3 hundred odd dollars you got off light mate another 5 clicks over and they can take your licence on the spot for 3 months.

To the OP. I received a camera speeding ticket in 2003 just outside Sydney. It was quite minor, about 13 km over the limit, like 43 in a 30 as I entered a smaller size town, kind of like the speed traps in this country. I received two letters over a few months. I never paid. If I was stopped by a REAL law enforcement officer I would have paid. I would have talked to him, blah blah blah. I don't trust revenue producing machines or tools of government here or abroad. Here I can go to court to ask questions about the proper operation of the machine such as calibration, etc.. No way can you contest an overseas ticket. They just want their money. By the way I never 'lost' my license and was never threatened by anyone here in the U.S.. I never was charged on my credit card either which I would have disputed just to aggravate them with more paperwork. No plans on going back. Once was enough. Australians are great folks, had a great time there, but like any Socialist government they can kiss my a$$ when it comes to 'legalized' theft.
