I know we're all over the map here from guys who maybe bought a 356 new to those of you still looking to take the plunge. But I came across this ad just posted by Sonnen in Marin for an '89 Targa they've got on the lot. Sonnen is unusual (here, anyway) in that they put up the original sticker in the ads. Quite revealing, and takes me down memory lane when the few older cars they list have those window stickers.

So, think about this last-of-the last torsion bar cars targa. About as low on the desirability scale as you could get in '89? And when I think back personally 20 years ago, basically having no income.......someone spent $60K+T/L on this (and similar). Those of you who bitch about the Cayenne and Panamera, look what it has allowed to be developed in terms of the current crop of sports cars in the line.

Grrrr.........

Well some dip___ trolling around Craigslist has a problem with a legit ad from a dealer.

So, straight from their website: http://www.sonnenporsche.com/detail-...a-4953493.html

I wrote a check for $52K for a new Cabriolet in 1987. If you look at equivalent dollar values today, it was a VERY expensive car.

According to this web site http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.htm

$56,000 in 1989 is equal to $97.700 today
