Picked up a 96 993 C4 yesterday. It is my first 993 after two 964s and all I can say is wow. I drove it down from Albany to Connecticut and it was fantastic on the interstate and back roads (except for getting pulled over in Mass). It is a black on tan car with 54k miles. I am only the 2nd owner, the original owner just brought it up from Florida where it has spent its entire life. It is 100% stock (for now), has original paint, 2-3% leakdown results and came with all records even the window sticker. The only things it needs are new 3M rear fender guards and removal of the window tint. Can't wait for spring
Congratulations and welcome! I am also a fairly new owner of a C4S.....going on my second month of ownership. Since you've owned 2 964s, I would be interested in hearing from you, your impressions/thoughts, of what significant difference you feel in the 993 vs the 964 ?

My old 964 C2 was upgraded with Bilsteins, H&R springs, M030 sway bar and 17" wheels so it handled very well and was a fun back road car. The 964 C4 was set up similarly but it was not as tossable and nimble as the C2. I felt a big difference between the C2 and C4 versions of the 964 and was just not enamored with the 964 C4. My 993 is still on stock suspension so it is hard to compare them fairly, but even on stock suspension (it does have 18" wheels with PS2s)it handles great. The 964s are alot of fun but they are more raw than 993s. The 993 is a much better highway car, quieter, more stable, 6th gear. 964 just as much fun on back road. 993 engine is noticeably stronger throughout its range. Once I get some more 993 miles under my belt I will give a better report.
More preaching to the choir, but welcome to the club. After nine different 911's in 25 years, I wouldn't trade my 993 for anything........Okay maybe a '73 E or S.
