Well, about all I can add coming in at the end here is if you want it, and can afford it..........buy it.
OK, then what? Have a piece of 3-dimensional art to ooh and aah over? Or merely consider the premium a sunk cost (much as drive off depreciation a new car has) of getting something rare, then just using it as a normal car. Or as normal as any of us use 993's.

You just don't "get it". It's not about what's "better", it's about what it is.
It's the same for a lot of cars, hell what does a 60's Vet got for? Or the first gen BMW M3, there super slow compared to the new ones, but nice ones are in the mid $30's where they were stickered at in the 80's.
A quick look will bring up about 100 997's for sale in the $50's, but only 10 993's.

and there a fare fewer 993s out there now days that can command top dollar.
I agree with Stealth, it is not about better. There is a scarceity factor starting to affect prices of the low mileage 993s. AS they get older, there are fewer and fewer with really low mileage. These will command a higher price jsut because they are scarce. I think that the cars with extremely low mileage will also tend to be well optioned because their owners desire unique cars to savor rather than drive. This could also lead to unique cars that are weird as they reflect the tastes of their eccentric owners.
[QUOTE=ssarchi;7103897]who wants a car with a two-tone interior?
a lot of people do. a friend of mine has an ocean blue c4s, with tan leather sport seats, black carpets/dash. I'm not even really into tan on p-cars, but this is one of my favorite 993 interiors.
the fact is, 993 s models and turbos, and even super cherry NA coupes will always command a high premium for low mile, clean cars. And one will always be able to buy a newer, fare superior in all ways model for the same or less.

I have sold 2 C4S's in this year and last. One with 16,000miles for $63,000; the other around 20,000miles for $58,000.
I perfer them to the TT unlike most people. It is a very rare opinion, but I don't think im alone.
These are the buyers for the maxed out 4S's like the one you mention.

If you're going to drive it then what is the point of paying such a high premium for an ultra-low mile example? Unless you're going to keep it ultra-low mile as a collector piece then why not find another car with 20k-30k miles and save the $10k-15k (+?) difference?

You could use the same agreement against any new car purchase as well.
On the other hand, some people have enough money that $60K is small change. If I was in that group, I would find the newest, least mileage, cleanest 993 I could find and not worry about $10K in price.
Or, it could be that this fellow has the chance to by a really nice, low mileage example for a price he can afford and is happy with...and isn't his opinion of the transaction the only one that really matters?
I say buy it and enjoy it....however that may be.
