Pretty nice! I removed my basket also, and have been driving less 3rd brake light.

Looks great, you must be an engineer too 8-p.

I am going this route too.

That looks outstanding , I'm thinking of putting a Ducktail on my 95 and solves my 3rd brake light problem. Well done. KC

How do you adhere the LED strip to the window/rubber surround? Got mine the other day and am eager to install...

Thank you

Bob (Crimson Nape Racing)-- Great work; clean installation that improves safety

Related, in case it's helpful to anyone for reference: 2004's "(Completed) Ultra RED LED 3rd brake light MOD" thread...

From the 356 forum, RLer Q's impressive "retro tech project for my 356... LED brake light & indicator upgrade" thread

i wanted everything covert when not in use....
so i opted for a centre mount brake light in the engine grille,
and indicators in the louvres

look a little deeper...

lights in action !!

night time....

i am stopping now.....time to put down the ipod and look up....

the front received an upgrade whilst i was on a roll.
these were actually motorbike indicators

quite pleased with the results, particularly the brightness during the day !

This 964 owner is going to try this as well... not sure how I'll work the cabling out, but I'm sure nothing is impossible.

Parts are ordered and sometime (prob in 6 months of so looking at my 2DO list) this will go in. Priority: pretty low. Brakes, a little suspension work and some rust repair rank at the top right now... followed by some good tunes.

As always: getting the parts is the easy part.

How do you route the wires to the brakes if the car is a 95 and came with the basket handle?

It sounds like, from the first post, that the wires were already there. Which seems strange, maybe there was a point in the 95 build where they added the wires to the top of the rear window in anticipation of a new CHMBL. So perhaps not all 95s have it.

You pick up the power on the rear package shelf, all the rear interior has to come out to get at the wire

I figured that part (Bill), but the Q is, how do I get it out to the upper 3rd brake light. Out through the window that is.

Pull the window seal back from the top center and you will see the two wires already there tucked neatly between the glass and body. Just pull the wires out and connect to your light.

My car is a very early '95 (6-94) and it has the wires there.

Great approach, cheap, easy to install, looks great, enhances look over original look. How often does ideas like this come up in the universe of Porsche owners?
I would publish it to the DIY submittal forum on this site.
Thank you for your idea!

There will be a day when the basket handle will be that highly coveted piece of originalia. Then we 95ers wil all sit back and laugh. ...muhaaaaaaa!
