Default a couple HID questions

hi, i've searched and found this guide to installing the HID's i can easilly cope with the wiring etc. my questions are regarding the HID's are:

1. what bulb does this plug and play kit need to be? i thought the bulb in the projector was an H7?

2. will this tutorial:

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...et-hids-4.html

work generally for all HID kits?

im looking at buying locally from this company:

http://autolismo.com/hid.html

they are a sponsor of a local forum im on and their kits are highly regarded for the price, im leaning towards 4300k?

any input is very much appreciated, cant wait to get the HID's in

FWIW: I found that getting HIDs with separate ballast and igniter makes it easy to fit in the headlight housing. Don't have to run wire from the trunk.

Looks like a decent kit - I would strongly recommend the 4300k bulbs for maximum light output and matching OEM color

Ahh, the great unknown until you see the plugs from your car and the kit that you "will" buy. You have all of the information here as stated above. I did not have to do the wire splicing and such as stated in one of the diy's. I dremel a bit to make the bulb fit and shove the non-slim ballast version and it fit the headlight housing and all is bright!

SharpHID was great to deal with and only $100 shipped! I went with the 6000k and am very pleased with the color and brightness.

I've used 6k and they have a nice clean white light. The difference is literally night and day when you try them the first time. With the new small ballasts you might be able to hide them in the light unit but if not then fabricate some brackets from aluminium that the ballasts can be bolted to so that you can use existing fixings rather than drilling holes (!).

Cheers,

David

no affiliate, just a happy customer - make this easy and order from ddmtuning.com. it's got the best installation manual specifically for the 993 with pictures AND it's on sale now for $59.95! I paid $70 which to me is still an incredible deal.

2nd the props for ddmtuning.com
I bought a set of HID's (for my Volvo suv), and their kit is good (and inexpensive), but better yet, they offer good tech support (phone). Lifetime warranty also.

You'll need an H1. I recommend 4300 Kelvin.

And welcome.

I've got a 35W set in my Honda van, and it's definitely enough. I've got a 55W set in my Volvo, and its a bit much, esp driving in the city. I'd say if you're driving in the city, get 35W, but in dark roads/less populated areas, the 55W are flamethrowers. 4300K on both mine, and glad I didn't go higher K. I didn't want the color to look too blue.
