Default HELP - CDR-220 with i-Pod Connector

Bought the CDR-220 sent it to Becker for the faceplate change and the i-Pod connector (the one that plugs into the back of the stereo). here is my newbie i-Pod question.

What i-Pod do I need to get?

I can take a picture of connector that Becker supplied. I went to the store today to purchase the i-Pod and confused myelf. I have had an i-Pod shuffle for 2 years now and know that one wont work. I am not looking for a top of the line unit as it will stay in my car all the time so no videos are going to be watched. Any help on what type or model of i-Pod to buy is appreciated as I want to have it ready for the trip to Palooza on Friday. Thanks.

I know the Nano works fine, don't ask me what Generation it is though. I have 3 or 4 of them, haven't found any that did not work.

I need to create a few playlists for the trip too.

I've got an i-Pod "classic" for what it's worth. Hooks up with my Becker-supplied CDR-220. Better wait for someone more in the know than myself though Mike. Might be like the blind leading the blind.

I believe any iPod with the "iPod Connector" will work (see pictured), except maybe for the iPhone and iPod touch.

the new Ipods don't work with the connector from Becker. But there is an connector for the connector ;-) which I used to have my newer Nano connected. works perfect. I love this upgrade.

On a side note - you only need this additional connector to get the Ipod also charged!!!

Here is the link for the connector - http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1320

Mike do you have the "aux" display on the head unit when trying your i-Pod?

Tim:

I do not think the upgrade puts the display on the dash unit. everything is controlled from the i-Pod.

Yup. I just remember when I got mine last winter and initially thought the i-Pod didn't work. Turned out I hadn't enabled the "aux" function. As above, I'm a little slow with this techno mumbo-jumbo.

No Mike, Tim's talking about enabling the Aux input feature before the CDR-220 will recognize the Ipod. Call me if you want it explained.

If I already have a playlist established with my Nano. Can I use the new i-pod to transfer all the songs that are on the Nano playlist on to the new i-Pod?
