i-Pod charging right now and will attempt to download the playlist today. I have to leave or Nashville, TN so may not get it done. I think I have everything I need to make it hapen. Famous last words.

What faceplate change are you talking about? Is it just the European faceplate or is there now a way to display the ipod info on a new faceplate? I bought my CDR-220 from that stereo place that advertises in the Panorama and got the orange Euro faceplate and a cable that charges the ipod. I love how it fits perfectly in the ashtray when you remove the actual ashtray from the compartment.

The original faceplate angle is not designed for the 993. What happens in the daytime is you can't see the display. So you have to send it to Becker for the reverse colors on the faceplate. There is no change in the faceplate except the colors are reversed. As far as putting the i-Pod in the ashtray that is a great idea and I tried doing the same, but with the connector and the i-pod (Nano Gen 5) it was 1/4" too big. I am going the glovebox route since it can be locked as well. You may have the smaller version i-Pod.

EDIT: i-Pod is only controlled from the i-Pod not the stereo

I picked up a replacement CDR-220 from RL'er TxnBluDvl, sent off the faceplate and ordered the new style Ipod cable (does not work w/ Ipod Touchs though), when I installed it the 220 would not recognize the Ipod. Remembered this thread, followed "ezinternet's" instructions and now the Ipod plays. Thanks again.

It does work with the Ipod Touch. I initially had the same problem. But it works fine now...I'm certain a search will help you...can't remember now, but it was a simple programming issue...pushed a couple of buttons and bingo...all is good.

Only advise I can give is to make sure you get the ipod connector with the powder wire, this way you can connect the ipod and charge it at the same time

I don't have an Ipod Touch, I was only going by what the Becker site says about the cable. I THINK they say it just won't charge the Touch's but it will play (not certain as I don't have a Touch and didn't pay much attention to them).

The only one they sell now has the charge wire built in to the cable plugs, it was upgraded since the last time I bought one (about 3 yrs. ago). I think I posted a link to their cable in this thread, if not it's in another thread.

Edit: Here's the new cable Becker Ipod Cable

An ipod is what replaced hi-fi. Now we only get i-fi.
