Default Is this the right Brad Penn oil to buy?

I am just woundering if im getting the right kind?

15W40 Penn Grade 1 Racing oil?

Because they have a 15w40 diesel and maybe other also. Just wanted to make sure before I place my order.

Great price on Amazon too. All other places $7 a quart.

Based on your location I'd go with 20W-50.

20w-50 is what was recommended for me by Steve Weiner. Steve is out of Portland as well. I am up in Seattle. Not too far away from you. It has worked great for me.

That's interesting... I didn't think they made 15W40 so you had to mix 10W30 and 20W50 to effectively get it.

I like the green oil, my last change I mixed 15/40 and 20/50.

20W50 here. If you look around, you'll find it cheaper than on Amazon.

BP pricing was discussed at Pelican Parts. Start at the end for recent prices.

Note this site selling it at 36.66/case, although I don't know how much the shipping costs are:

Why is that?
Brad Penn 20w-50 or mobile 20w-50?

I will only drive around 3-5K miles per year. 4-6 times a month. Mostly dry months.

I have a few more questions.

1. Did some reading on Brad penn on here through the old threads and what-not and noticed a few people saying that it runs hotter then a Mobil 1 or other Synthetic oil.
Have you noticed this??

2. Also what up with the pricing. I have found it from $3.00 a quart to locally people are selling it at $7.00 a quart. Mobil 1 is $7-$8 a quart anywhere I look. Why such a range for brad penn??

3. Is a semi-syn better then a fully syn? Like a brad penn compared to redline, Motul, amsoil?

Just trying to get some more info before I make the final decision because I dont want to be changing oil brand every oil change. lol.

Hmmmm...... The devil is in the details. Something like oil seems so simple, but in reality it's very complex. That's why there are so many opinions. The quick answer is, if you are worried about the oil, give Steve W a call and he can give you the best recommendation for your engine and environmental conditions, etc, etc. Otherwise if you want all the gory details, there's plenty of oil discussion threads here and on other P-car sites. Good luck.

Sorry, no help on the pricing delta either.
