Default A bit OT- the Porsches at Road Atlanta this weekend

Did anyone watch the SVRA races at Road Atlanta this weekend? It was my first time there, great track! My 3 y.o. and I had a great time cheering on the Porsches. After watching all those air-cooled 911's scream by, I think I'm leaning towards picking up a 993 as opposed to an M car or a 996tt next year.

Love the early cars!

The 996TT will obviously be much faster, but the aircooleds are like dreamland ribs - ain't nothin like 'em nowhere!

Great photos....Cloudy days make for the best race photos....The SVRA and HSR series both put on a great show...No better place to see vintage cars up close and personal without the bother of crowds and such...It's good that you had your 3 year old with you...Treasure these moments because time flies...I have a photo of my son at age 6 hanging on the fence at Road Atlanta while Paul Newman goes by in the background car on his way to his first SCCA National Chanpionshipin the mid-70's....Sadly, Paul is gone and his car would be a vintage racer today.

Oh man, you had to mention Dreamland didn't you? Can't tell you how many times I ate lunch at the original Dreamland in Tuscaloosa during my undergraduate years at the UofA...Guess I'll have to make a run to 'Bama soon...Maybe lunch at Dreamland and then supper at the Bright Star in Bessemer. Thanks for the memories!

Most excellent photos, any more to share? Best of luck in your car search, will add that both my kids enjoyed the back seat of my 993, even with a car seat back there they always enjoy the 993.

Yup, Bright Star is some good stuff too. The original Dreamland is the only way to go.

Sorry, not too many more shots from last weekend- I was trying out the technique of dragging the shutter while panning the camera to show motion... with a very low success rate

BTW- great to see some fellow Bama grads on this thread, although in my four years in Tuscaloosa, I never made it to Dreamland. I was partial to City Cafe in Northport and the 15th St Diner.

Who keeps putting Porsche pics in this food thread!?

Yep, both those are fantastic places and a great bang for the buck.

I like the motion pics you turned out! Put the blue 911 as my desktop at work. I wish the sliver one showed up better
