I also try not to get in to it when cold, & try to never do short trips.

I also Auto-X once a month, so it gets some full throttle runs, & also do some tours to keep them happy. Freeway driving is usually easy, cruise in 6th, aorund 70mph.

Once warm, I usually operate in the 4 - 6K rpm band

Start up until warm, below 4k.
Once warm, about 4k on the freeway (short gears).
Through tunnels with the top down, 6k
Track events first run, idle and pit drive until warm, then full tilt.
Whenever possible, in a manner that makes others on the road remember why Porsche is king...

I probably do too many short trips in mine, but I still make sure to get it warm (staying below 4k in the meanwhile) and then hitting the redline before switching off. My car has an intermittent CEL that comes and goes, but since I've been sticking to lower gears in and out of the neighborhood, I haven't seen the light come on in over six months, knock on wood...while some claim higher wear at higher revs, not hitting high revs ever is hurting, not helping. Moderation...

I always warm it up but if I'm trundling around this is 3.6 flat six. It has bags of torque and under light load can trundle happily at 2k revs. Driving at 3k to 4k revs all the time cannot be good for the car? Having said that, 6k revs + tunnel is always good with sports cats and RSRs!

Cheers,

David
