the other is like standard (with the metal sleeve that has rubber inside it) but with less of a space within which the tie rod can move


question is, can anyone offer a comparison of both as im about to buy along with the rs uprights and have to make a decision

I am tempted to go with the GTevo ones because there is zero play and you will get a very direct feel to the steering but i don't want to introduce any nasties into the system. Posrhce obviously saw fit to keep some compliance on the RS and I don't want a car thats any more hardcore than the RS. Having said that, I have heard RS owners moaning about the RS steering saying that its sloppy compared to the 964 RS and the evo tie rods help this ! So there are arguments for both I guess.

Would relaly appreciate any user feedback form either or both

If you do a search you'll find pictures that show that the EVO tie-rods are a different geometry to match the different geometry of the EVO uprights.

I don't think the EVO uprights provide any difference in steering feel, but they sure help bump-steer in a lowered car. Most people whine about the lack of feel from the power steering in the standard vs the manual steering in an RS.

I have them, along with the EVO uprights in my car. No nasties noted.

yes, obviously RS and EVO tie rods have the ball joint at a different angle.. thats fine, im not asking that, I will be changing the uprights so it will all fit

i think there almost certainly will be a difference between standard, RS and EVO tie rods... as there is progressively less lateral play built into each system

Since RS and Evo uprights are the same for 993 either the monoball Evo/RSR tierods or the harder rubber RS tierods can be used, for that matter the RS/ Evo outer tierods can be used w/ stock inners.

I'm not sure that I detect any change w/ any of the RS combinations, the power steering rack is just plain numb, Harder or monoball A arm bushes do help a lot to improve initial turn in as does a good performance alignment w/ 0 toe

Driving on the streets of Manhattan gives new meaning to the word "kickback". Car has been seeing more track than street miles since I installed them. They work very well in that environment.

im slightly confused because on the one hand you say no nasties encountered but then you say gives new meaning to the word kickback ?

apologies for pressing you on this... im just trying to get an accurate appraisal of these systems so i dont make the wrong choice for myself

Sorry about the confusion. Trying humor can sometimes trigger that "one people separated by a common language" thing. I was referring to the very poor state of repair of Manhattan streets, where driving any kind of 911 gives new meaning to the word jarring and a lot of movement in the steering wheel. I can't really say I've noticed a difference in shockwaves/kickback/nasties using these parts over the stock ones they replaced. But I made a few other suspension changes at the same time. I didn't add this part incrementally. Doesn't sound like I'm being much help here.

i live in london and last time i was in NYC was when i was 16 in 1986 so cant remember the roads much
