Default Euro Bumber question

I am trying to get some thoughts from owners who did the euro bumper conversion by filling in the bumperette holes. What is the longevity on this solution? Does it show cracks or marks after time? Should just spend the extra USD 1300 and get a brand new eurobumper? Tks for your feedback

I would go "real" bumper.... To Install the bumper, you actually "bend" the bumper ever so slightly. The bumperette holes become a major stress point and I would imagine would only be a matter of time before they fail....

Then again, maybe the pros know a way around that....

Ive had two 993's... for my street car, I used the "real" bumper for the race car I filled the holes and they cracked shortly thereafter.....

+1 on the real deal. You can always sell your bumper. Not worth a ton, but it will offset the cost. I have only used the real euro bumper. Others will chime in that have had no issues with filing the holes so the choice is yours. I did fill the license plate holes in the center of the bumper, but no stress points (like the bumperette spot) there as jscott82 pointed out. Also a good rule of thumb, and one that I always do, is to replace the bumper seals. There are three and makes for a better look.

I filled mine about 2 years and 15k miles ago. I did it myself for about $25, but let the pro's do the final prep before paint. I think one of the keys is to use the right filler material for the type of plastic, so the expansion/contraction and flex rate is the same. I don't remember what I used now (not bondo), but I've had No issues so far. I think John D. has a DIY write up on this.

+1 on filing the license plate holes in the center of the bumper too!

I followed John D's DIY in April 2005. Still Perfect.

My suggestion is to wait for someone to back into your stock bumper and put a massive crease in it while your car is "safely" parked at costco (and of course have them leave no note).

Only then should you go buy a euro front bumper... at least this was my experience.

I have a real Euro 993 and need a new rear bumber. in USA is hard (or cost a lot) to buy a real OEM rear bumper 993 and I see a Fiberglass euro style rear bumper in about half price.. what to do??

Omg, same thing happened to me! but in a church parking lot of all places!! AND no note!...
I went with factory euro then filled the licence holes... rear is on the to-do-list but I will probably just get those filled, the body shop i use said they use the same plastic from a used bumper and actually "plastic weld" it in...
BUT as a side note, my front bumper was damaged... if I just wanted to do the euro look I wouldn't see a problem using a reputable paint/body shop to just fill the bumperette holes!
Don't forget to consider doing front spoilers or turboS ducts while you're there!
