Barrett-Jackson 993 Turbo S - $99k

It's a legit Turbo S. I posted it because I watched it at auction and was surprised at the price as well. Just shows what the economy is like now. There were a lot of cars at Mechum in St. Charles - down the street from me - that didn't meet the reserve price, but they "talked" to the owners to let the sale go. Most were about $10k - $20k off the mark.

I think 30k is considered "high" mileage because most Turbo S's seem to be owned as collector cars and not driven very much.
Also, it's my opinion that for a regular 993, 30k is the cut-off for a "low" mileage (garage queen) car, 30-60k for an "average" car, and 60k+ for "high" mileage.

It looks like the one sold by Truspeed (I think, could be RPM also) about 2 years ago. Back then it had covered around 24.XXX if I remember correctly. Good to see that someone has actually used the car.

I found it on my computer browsing old pictures. I thought it was really cool . I think it's originally a RUF advertisement used on their online wepage. I can't find it anymore though. RUF

great driver-collector car.
IMO thats got A LOT of miles left to go with less maint than a Ferrari but more long term collectability and mitigation against depreciation(vs a F360 or F430, etc). probably not going to significantly hurt the value driving that another 20k miles.
wasnt there an Enzo driver who had like 30k miles on his? still a F'n expensive car.

It is a "real" S - B-J checks the vin #'s to ensure the car is as claimed. I think the price is about market correct for these cars - they did make 182 of them so it is not really that rare. I think the color may have held it back some. If it had some serious "provenance" - if it belonged to Seinfield etc - it would have brought more.

How can anyone on this 993 forum not love that car, and that color? Ok, well, I guess you don't. I sure do. $99k is a great price for that car. $89k would have been an even better price.
I drove in one once and found it to be an amazing experience all around. I felt like I was in the "king of the road". It's a great car in any color and I doubt that color hindered the final price at all. If it was a black or silver one, I doubt the $99k would have been much if any higher in this market we're in.

+1 on the black. I do like the cobalt but black or red would have given it that meaner, racey look and would fetch a higher premium...IMHO.
God, that rear fender scoop turns me on.

I still think it's a great price for a highly collectible car with reasonable mileage (and the perfect mileage to have kept it well excercised ver 10+ years).
I don't think I've even seen one offered for sale for less than 150.
Also, in my mind, the cobalt is worth a premium. It is the kind of color an exotic like that should be.
Sloan has one for sale now for 185, albeit w/8k miles. http://sloancars.com/159/1997-turbo-s/

Love the Cobalt on a 993 but have never understood why the big premium over a standard Turbo. Everything on it was available on the standard car (at a price).
