Default Is Mobil 15W50 recommended?

I decided to buy some of the Mobil 1 15W50 as I prefer the viscosity to the 20W50 and it's readily available. I was running Amsoil racing oil. Is this Mobil stuff recommended for our engines?

I am more of Mazola guy, but have tried extra virgin olive oil on occasion...

I am sure you will have a barrage of recommendations!

Being in Canada, you can buy Mobil 1 Syn 5W50 at Walmart. And it is Porsche approved.

Thanks. I thought it might be but wasn't sure. Wal-Mart didn't have any. I thought they were the leaders in supply chain management. Canadian Tire had some for $44 for 5 litres which is a very reasonable price.

Just wanted to check on the Mobil stuff. I've read tons of oil posts about what oil to use and sure didn't want to start another one It appears that the Mobil 15W50 has a higher level of wear additives and just wanted to make sure it was acceptable. Not all mfg's actually publish the P and Zn levels. Shipping Brad Penn oil up here isn't practical either. Thanks.

I purchased my '95 with just over 30,000 miles on the clock. The included receipts showed that each oil change had been completed by a Seattle Porsche dealer, using Mobil1 15/50.

I've felt no need to do anything different in the four years that I've owned the car.

I think the issue is the change in formulation, not whether it used to be a suitable/recommended oil. Some things change, and not always for the better...

911's used to be dry-sump oil cooled...

Got this from the Mobil 1 site last week. Has the ZDDP levels for each of the oils.
