1. Buy a DME.
2. Perform the usual checks before a long road trip
3. Drive your new baby back

Enjoy

Intercity Lines. You'll be hard pressed to find anything but glowing reviews. Only problem with Intercity is that some of the other cars on the transporter might make you jealous!

Intercity Lines, used them 4 times and love them (but they are very busy)

Horseless Carriage, used them once and they were also ok

I've used InterCity and Fed-Ex for transporting cars. No problems with either one, but Fed-Ex was generally less expensive.
I'd get quotes from both and compare transportation, insurance top rack costs and delivery time from the day the car is picked up.
Good luck!

I have used Intercity probably 100 times. They have been far better than everyone else. I have used Thomas Sunday once, and it worked well for the circumstances, and I would use again if Intercity was unavailable. I have used a number of others when customers request cheaper transport. I have been disappointed every time. So, Drive it, or use Intercity

I am working with Demoise right now. They will be picking up my car this week and delivering from Ohio to Arizona. They have been excellent to work with in preparing for this move.

I have used Intercity, Demoise, DAS (not for the 993).
Intercity: Driver wore white gloves before he ever touched the car. Transport was flat inside, essentially on both levels, spotless. Driver gave me cell phone, delivered on time where promised, same driver same truck. Put the 993 under 3 covers inside the enclosed truck. Net: Recommended.

Demoise: Smaller operation, super nice and very accommodating on the pickup schedule. Enclosed, same driver, same truck, no covers inside that I saw. Essentially flat, though inside was a bit more of the typical car carrier with the plethora of moveable ramps and such. Delivered on time, though slightly less flexible on drop off location due to immense trailer. Net: Recommended. Slightly cheaper than Intercity, similar though slightly less babying of the car.

DAS: Used on a Celica, never on a Porsche. Cheap. Not enclosed. Consolidated shipping. Delivered with dead battery, FILTHY FILTHY. Who knows how many times it was moved and where it went. I saw a DAS truck this weekend and the rear car was bouncing like a bad ad for Midas or something. Crazy. Net: Not recommended at all.

+1 They are extremely professional and care for the cars as though they were their own. Very complete written inspection done when picked up and when delivered.

I had my M3 shipped to me earlier this year by FedEx from Clovis, NM to Nashville and was very impressed. Enclosed, covered and driver called frequently to update me (and let me know I was free to call him). Car actually showed up a couple of days early, which was nice. Strongly recommended.

Also used Concours Transport to ship the 993 enclosed from Detroit to Nashville. They were great. Called them for a quote on the M3, but didn't hear back.

I've never used Intercity, but understand they are the gold standard.

911ist,

Thanks for the price quote. Please let us know what cities the car will pick up from and deliver to and we will be glad to offer a price quote.

Thanks,
Jim

When I moved from North Carolina to Illinois I tried Intercity first, but they didn't transport along those routes. I ended up going with Autobahn. They were okay. They used a covered trailer, and they stored my cars (shipped my Jeep also) for 30 days while we took leave for only about $100. Both cars were clean and in the same condition I shipped them in. Only bad part was the trailer had a wheel bearing go bad outside of town. Ended up picking up both cars on the shoulder of I-80. But, I would use them again.

Will second Innercity.

Used them three times - always on time, never a problem.
