Default Mechanical advantages of the 993 over the 964?

Can anyone tell me what mechanical advances the 993 has over the 964.

Curious to know what really makes these two cars different other than the sculptural ones....

thanks

I guess MECHANICALLY, they are similar-

A search shows this:

Besides the valve adjustment, what is the added cost of maintaining a 964 vs. a 993? Yes there are the big one time costs of fixing a leaky head on an early 964 motor, the pre-LUK clutch, and perhaps the update to the Climate Control Unit on all 964s...

You probably know all the maintenance issues with the 964 (flywheels, brake hydraulics, oil leaks, etc. I had every problem that could happen to mine except the cylinder to head oil leaks).

Steve:

There were a ton of changes; too many to list here. But there is a comprehensive account of them in Streather.

Bill Verburg started a very comprehensive thread over on Pelican. Most, if not all, the differences are described in it.

Bill Verburg's analyis is very thorough. It's excellent.

A briefer description of the changes are here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche...l_improvements

The rear suspension is a very significant change. More power, depending on year. The 6-speed is nice. Dual exhausts and mufflers.
