No one can really claim that it wasn't well maintained. As long as the car has its original build serial number plates, it'll have value.
I have a friend that restored a 550 Spyder werks car that had been destroyed in a track accident. All he had was a section of the twisted space frame with serial plates still intact. Aluminum body was re-fabricated by hand at a Northern California shop on factory bucks, engine was reproduced from factory blanks. Today the car is considered one of the finest restored examples, valued at seven figures and driven at such events as the Monterey Historics, etc.
