Default Boxster 3 spoke Steering wheel

Hi from NZ,

I'm wanting to put a three spoke wheel on my 993 and there is a Boxster one for sale here in NZ. Can anyone confirm if the Boxster wheel and airbag fit the 993?

TIA KCG

It will as long as it is from a 986. A 996 wheel will also work. Go for it.

Hmmm I think so. There is not a lot of demand here in NZ for P-Car parts so the prices are not usually high. The downside is we don't have the selection of 2nd hand parts that Europe or US has.

It's listed for $500 NZD but I hope to get it for $400. Thats the wheel, airbag and clockspring so I think its a bargain TBH.

I paid $700 US and drove 360 miles round trip to get it. My friend drove my car and says the rim feels good in her hands when she isn't checking her makeup in the rearview or sampling a fine Seattle caffeinated beverage

So can anyone confirm if the 2002 Boxster S is the 986?

Yes this pic will be on their Facebook page much to my friend's displeasure.

From our Wikipedia friends...

"The first-generation Boxster (the 986) was introduced in late 1996 as a 1997 model; it was powered by a 2.5 litre flat six-cylinder engine. In 2000, the new Boxster S variant was introduced with a larger 3.2 litre motor, and the base model received a more powerful 2.7 litre engine. In 2003, styling and engine output was upgraded on both variants.

In 2005, Porsche unveiled the new generation of Boxsters: the type 987. The 987 is more powerful than its predecessor and featured styling inspired by the Carrera GT..."

I think 986 is 1997-2004, and 987 is 2005-present.
