I'd stay away from Sneed. I've had bad customer service experiences with those guys.

Just curious, can one have multiple policies (two different companies,) on a vehicle?

Nevermind, the answer is no, apparently.

I was thinking it might make sense in the case of car that qualifies as "classic" where policies are so much cheaper. Then, if one actually had a claim they could just go with the company that was more responsive and offered the better payout. Never considered the fraud angle actually, because I figured if one was paying on two policies then why wouldn't it be fair to collect on both if it was ever needed, as in the case with life insurance.

I've only had one auto claim in my life and it worked out well, but I've since moved and now have a different company. I guess it's a crapshoot anyway, even if company X was responsive and handled a claim well in the past, doesn't mean it will happen again that way in the future, especially these days.

Has anyone had any issues with filing claims with the "classic Car Insurance policies" ?

IE car damage by accident or otherwise. Insurance is only cheap when you don't need it.

Once you have to file a claim you'll have a better idea if it’s cheap or not - depending on the service and the amount of fire hoops you have to jump through.

Any experiences?

Sorry to revive an old thread but I'm concerned about my "regular" USAA coverage and was hoping there was some additional, more recent experience with "stated value" policies. After review this tread, I talked with both State Farm and USAA and neither will write a stated value policy for my 96 993. Any suggestions? Is Hagerty the best option? Thanks!

I went with Leland West three years ago, agreed value of $40,000 at a cost of 42 dollars month. Very nice to deal with. I'm going to have to raise the value another $20,000 I think. mark

I have Hagerty Silver Wheel coverage up here in Canada. $420 a year for $38k coverage. Unlimited mileage, just can't drive it to work, and have to have another car as a daily driver.

I went through this yesterday. Checked with my normal insurer (State Farm- no stated value available), Hagerty, American Collector, and Leland West. Leland West had the best rate (by far) and fewest limitations. 10% discount with PCA membership.....

C2S delivered tomorrow!!
(I know- this post is worthless without pictures...)

I'm NO authority but I would suggest doing a search for Leland West collector insurance claims. There have been a few threads over the years that have detailed less than satisfactory treatment of the policy holder. They have developed a reputation of being great to deal with when signing up but difficult when a claim is actually filed. YMMV of course.

I have an agreed value policy of $45k through Grundy.

There are restrictions on the policy (no daily driver, no errands except for "limited pleasure use"). Happy to answer any specific questions as I just combed through the policy a few weeks ago.

To the folks who recently posted about "stated value": I suspect you meant to say "agreed value," which is a good idea and different from stated value, which is a bad idea. Google "agreed value versus stated value" and peruse the search results.

I have the same policy as mpruden, but with a little higher agreed value. It's worked so far.

Any knowledge regarding Grundy paying "stated value" claims?

I only know what the policy states. I've never had to make a claim.
