Cost of collector car insurance for your 993?
I've been hunting around for collector car insurance for my 993 and have got quotes from most of the usual suspects (American Collector, Grundy, Hagerty, Leland West, etc.). I've heard excellent things about Hagerty and considered going with them, but their quote was $800/year - that's 50% higher than Grundy's quote (and on par with my current Allstate policy), and included all of their 'good driver' discounts. Would anyone mind sharing what they pay annually for an agreed value policy with a collector car insurer, and what the agreed value is?

+1 for USAA! Been w/them for 44 years! For Collector Car insurance, try Heacock Classic in Lakeland, FL. They require 3k mi. per year max. and pleasure use only, no track coverage. Valuation is up to you. The more coverage you want, the more it'll cost. Premium will depend on location and other factors.

My '95 isn't eligible up here until January when it will be 15 years old. I have regular insurance in the mean time and just keep fire and theft on during the winter which helps brings the cost down. I think I pay around $6-700 per year with that plan.

+ 2 for regular insurance....I pay about 700 a year with Wawanessa. I was with Hagerty originally and they were 200 bucks cheaper. I had set the premium, but too many restrictions that made me uncomfortable (ei needs to be parked in the garage, only pleasure driving, cant go to work with it)
Seems like thay had too many angles not to pay if something went wrong.

I told state farm I was driving each of my cars less than 7500 miles a year, and I was not using the Porsche to go to work. That helped reduce the cost significantly.
7500 miles is the magic number for State farm in California. They checked my mileage once, nothing since.
I have been with them for 7 years, single, under 35 in Los Angeles:
Porsche is the primary car <$600 for 6months
Integra <$300 for 6 months
Full generous coverage on both. I bet I would pay half in most states. LA is crazy!

I just got a quote from Sneed (add in Pano) for 565 year with a 35K stated value, 6000 mile limit, and no other driving restrictions (I can drive it to work or whatever). My regular insurance is about 1200 year as a second vehicle. Insurance around here is high due to the number of uninsured motorist and an extremely high number of morons on the roads.

Leland West has a 5k limit. From what I researched they seem to be the best in respect to terms.
For those who have State Farm, I was told (2x) by them (even from the head office in Bloomington IL) that they will not do an agreed upon value unless the car is truly a classic and is used as such. My 1996 993 doesn't fit their criteria. How did you get agreed upon value? (other than Blue Book)
Captain GSR, do you have an agreed upon value? fwiw, I am with State Farm and pay $498.12 for six months. No mileage restriction. Full generous coverage, etc.. In the heart of LA (and probably the highest place for insurance in the US.)
I think I'm going with Leland. Their terms: 5k/year, locked garage, another car as daily driver, list of mods and any other added value to the car must be documented, and agreed upon value. If I remember correctly the estimate (over the phone) was a bit less than what I'm paying now. The value was at 55k.
