Carmel/Monterey, CA shop recommendation?
All:
I need to know if there is a good independent Porsche shop in the Carmel/Monterey area? My fan belt light came on, and while all (3) the belts appear to be intact, I'd like to get it checked out on Monday.
Thanks in advance!
Paul.

no idea on the shop Paul but it is very likely the fan belt sensor. Easy fix.
If all belts there and OK then you are safe to drive. Only possible risk would be if the fan belt picked this time to actually fail with no working warning light... and you didn't hear it fail.
Good luck!

Paul,
Mark is correct. It is a simple DIY if you are so inclined....Here's the link to step-by-step instructions: http://p-car.com/diy/roller/

Their is a Porsche dealership in Seaside if you can't locate someone that can fix it for you. Hope that this helps, sometimes you just need to do what needs to be done :-) if you are on the road away from home...

Thanks guys. I would just wait, but I am getting some strange noises from the engine compartment so I would like to have everything checked over. I saw a shop with several Pcars parked outside today so maybe I'll talk to them.

Paul-- I was lucky to meet a lot of helpful Porsche enthusiasts while in Monterey & Carmel for Car Week last month. I heard the name of independent technician David Loop a couple of times, in very positive references. I have no affiliation or personal experience with Mr. Loop; just hope the following information may help. Good luck!

Similar to what Ray wrote below in the 964 forum, I get the impression Loop European may specialize in pre-1990 Porsches. If he can't help with your 993, I suspect David will know your best resources.
