Well you need to factor in that the car is still 13 years old which equals Faded paint any way you look at it.
secondly when a car goes through the insurance auction they are not carefull and could care less for the car no matter what it is which equals scratches and dents in the places where there was no damage.
I like my cars to be perfect and thats why im getting it repainted completly and sorry but i dont agree on the fact it will lower the value. I have seen his work and he painted a car for me years ago and his paint work is better then factory. Alot of high end shops will tell you factory paint isent all that amazing as people make it out to be.

Well I found out the paint is made by BASF Diamond anyone hear of it?

I spoke to a Paint supplier and Both Glasurit and Diamon are made by BASF and he says Daimond is a little cheaper but not that much better. Especially if you have never sprayed it he said just let the guy use Diamond like he always has.

I think the value vs. repaint issue is more complex than a simple staement can describe. The absolute preference is obviously perfect factory paint because the factory job is usually very good and it pretty much guarantees a potential buyer that the car is accident free. Beyond that I think paint condition is the driving factor. IMHO a high quality paint job is better than badly worn paint and a decent original paint job is better than a cheapo repaint. What is appropriate depends on the condition of the existing paint and how much you're willing to spend to improve it. depending upon the quality of the job and the condition of the paint before the repaint it may affect the value of the car positively or negatively. One suggestion though, document the accident free condition of the car before the repaint.

Money is not too much a factor for me when it comes to this car.
I want it perfect and im gonna pay for it to be.

Wow. I would assume bodywork combined with great (better than original) paint would have to cost a fortune at a high end shop... 10K, give or take? In no way reproaching you for wanting nice paint, but that's a significant investment in a car of this value.

Yea its running me ALOT but not $10K This guy is a Family friend for 20+ years so im getting kind of a insider deal. lol.
