Angry Yes, another noise thread - maybe clutch throw out bearing?

Car conditions - 96 C4S, engine is warm/hot, A/C off, new belt tension sensor, fairly new belts - tight, no oil leaks, car runs great and well maintained, clutch does not slip and feels OK

It's a high pitch screech/squeal as I engage the clutch, that lasts about a second or two and is gone once the clutch is fully engaged. Noise is coming from engine/transmission area. Sounds like a belt slipping in a vacuum cleaner. Does not make the noise 100% of the time and not when I shift hard and fast. Can the clutch throw out bearing make this noise? How about the clutch? Can the clutch slave cylinder make this noise? Any other ideas? Thanks for your help.

The T/O can make this noise but clutch disk rivets rubbing the flywheel can also make this sort of noise. How many miles on the clutch?

Thanks for the quick reply. The car has 65K but I have records from the PO that the clutch was replaced at 40K. The car had a syncro problem and Porsche O/H'ed the transmission and replaced the syncro's, clutch and guide sleeves, no TO bearing.

does it make noise say in neutral, clutch pedal out then go away once you begin to depress the clutch pedal?
