In spite of the fact that many here use their 993 as a DD the 996, even in turbo form, is more suited as a DD and high speed GT cruiser. I had an old Alfa GTV-6 which although it was not a powerful or luxo car by any means, it had a certain balance and feel that made it extremely fun to drive. The 993 is much the same IMHO.

So consider it a 60/40 kind of proposition where the 993 is 60% sports car and 40% fast GT cruiser and the 996tt is just the opposite. So the question is which side of the 60/40 do you want to be on?

Chris, your avatar is great. Keep changing the pic as he keeps growing. Congrats again!

The guy who sold me my car went to a 996 TT cab. He was sad before I even got my car. He needed to get a tip because his wife, who also drove the car, had hip issues with the 6-spd in the 993. Even the mechanic who did the PPI on both cars told him he was making a mistake.

Sounds like you really like your 993 NA. A 993TT could be the answer, however, some of us prefer the steering/clutch/shifter feel of the NA car. If you're in that boat, do what I did and buy a g50/31 I've driven 993 NAs with "correct" gearing - there's a big difference.

Cheers,
Joe

My 996Turbo is the garage queen, the 993Targa is the garage princess (occasionally driven by my wife).

Given a choice, I'd keep the 993Targa. I just enjoy driving that car.

There is nothing special about the 996Turbo, apart from it being in the 911 Turbo family blood line.

The answer is simple. The 993 has character- the 996 does not.

Open and close the door on your 993, then do the same on your 996.

Huh, you risked getting it wet in the rain? OMG!

I agree with what others are saying. I went 993 Targa to 997S to 993 cab and finally got it right, my current Turbo R. Can't get much better than that (for me).

The only upgrade is a 993TT or 993TT S.

Isn't this like making love to your new girlfriend and thinking about the X. Guess the X had better bed manners...

I just looked at the pricing on 993 tt and what the heck? $70,000 for a clean low milage?

I'd rather have a NB 993 + a Boxter S +$15000 cash in my pocket.

I thought you said yours was worth $45..... so how does it figure that you would get a nice Boxster S and have $15k in your pocket? Besides...you will still have neither fish, fowl nor red herring.
