Bill - thanks for data and the chart. The charts confirm my impression of more torque at lower RPM. If you have not driven a car with this gearbox it is very difficult ti understand the performance improvement.

Uh....yeah. Especially when having to do a 50 mile all freeway run at 4am for an ER computer repair at one of my businesses, a 24/7 answering service where..............let's say time was of the essence.

get ~ 27mpg at 80 mph with A/C on in 6th.

I have the perception I'm getting better mileage in 6th so I use it on the highway sometimes. Also, since my RS shifter still rattles I use 6th as it is much quieter rattling in 6th for some reason.

I use 6th all the time. But then with 426 HP and 438 ft-lb TQ, my 6th pulls like others in 4th.

I mostly use 6th when I'm trying to back up. . . of course my other car only has a 5 speed and Reverse is where 6th is in the 993!

One more fan of the short box. Moving 5th to 6th , keeping 1st and 2nd, and adding new 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears (equates to adding an additional gear between 2nd and 5th on a stock box) makes the car just more fun to drive. It is amazing the difference when you shift to 3rd and you are in the sweet spot for revs, then again for 4th, then again for 5th, and then you had better be on the track!
