Yes I do but my gearbox has been customized. The 5th gear is sitting at the location of the 6th gear and the rest is shorter ratio. In combination with RS flywheel and clutch and Steve Weiner chip a transformation like the PSS9 for suspension. When I go back to my cabriolet with stock gearbox it feels so sloooooow.

Yes, when I am wanting give passengers a break on the noise level while cruising. Also when I feel the urge to be a little bit more green than revving high...

Use it all the time when cruising from about 60 mph onwards. If you don't like downshifting for acceleration, get a tiptronic.

I find myself rarely using 5th gear let alone 6th. There might as well be 20 gears.

Useless below 90mph. Need to keep the revs up 3500 plus, or else it's lugging the engine. There was a similar thread here over a year ago, where it was posited that our cars perform best at 4000 rpm, effectively ruling out that 6th gear.

Are you implying that any RPM under 3500 in any gear is what you consider to be lugging the engine?

Somehow that doesn't seem right to me.

Any gear at any RPM is not a problem when you have a Supercharger along for the ride!!!!!!!

,..And thats precisely why we oftentimes move 5th to 6th when we do a close-ratio box,...

You wouldn't believe the difference.

All the time, better mileage, and if I need to pass, I use that lever sticking out of the floor. Why rev the motor needlessly if you're just cruising in traffic.

+1

My indy mechanic, who also races p-cars all over the country, says he thinks a 993 is "happiest" between 2800-3500 rpm. The implication is that to him anything below 2800 is the beginning of lugging I guess.

X2, although I shift into 6th around 70 rather than 60. I use it all the time. It's actually my favorite gear. I love the fuel economy and smoothness, the way you can cruise effortlessly at high speed. I'm re-gearing my tranny with RS ratios -- except for 6th, which I'm leaving as-is, because it's perfect.
