Default I've Got It!!!

Sorry for the long delay. As mentioned, I have been so busy polishing, staring at and driving my new car that I have not been very active on this forum.
I took delivery Wednesday evening. Here are some pics from that. I will post newer pictures tonight.
Yesterday was our (the wife and I) three year anniversary which of course required a 250+ mile drive in the Porsche along the PCH up into the newport/Huntington beach area for dinner.
I haven't driven a stick in about three years so I am still getting the hang of driving the Porsche, which has a shifter that is a little more finicky than my Fords. The clutch is super smooth though and this is one of the easiest cars to drive.

SDCabrio,
I would love to meet up some time. Part of the reason we went with a Porsche was because of the social network. We will probably head down to Qualcomm today too just to watch and meet people. I will PM you.
Thanks again to all the Rennlisters that contributed to making this dream come true.

"poking around at every fascinating piece head to tail" has gotten some of us in big trouble...

True, but at the same time poking around at every piece head to tail will find potentially dangerous problems such as deterioratede brake hoses etc. (from experience).

Dang, I'm afraid it might be too late to go to the SD Qualcomm event now. The wife and I spent the whole morning/afternoon buffing and waxing. While the paint was in good condition it had some etched in water marks which required a few hours with some rubbing compound and foam cutting pad, followed by waxing.
Now we just need some people to show it off to
I'm going to get the camera...

I've never heard it called 'buffing and waxing' before, but good for you

Here are some post cleaned pictures.
By buffing and waxing i meant that we polished the car with compound and a foam cutting disc (on a 9" sander), then waxed and buffed out the finish by hand. The paint was in very good condition but it had some etched in water spots from sitting outside.
We also detailed the engine compartment a little bit and removed/polished the exhaust tips.

Marc,
The car turned out to be even better than we were expecting. Thank you again for your help! We probably would not have bought the car without your Rennfax.
We will be joining our local PCA soon, which means I WILL be needing a helmet in the near future.

My pleasure to help.

This is, without a doubt, the best deal I've seen on a clean, stock, moderate mileage car. The deal had a good vibe; the seller fixed what was discovered. This is the Rlist deal of the year, imho.

Very glad that the car is as I described. I enjoyed helping, and how often do I get to drive a stranger's 993 around the back roads?! Hope, very much, that the car is as fun and bullet proof as our '95. We pound our 993 and it keeps getting better.

Don't forget to stash an extra dme relay in the car.

Congrats, and let's do this again!

Congrats on the car. Pretty cool having a 993 in the garage, huh?

Re: Shifting. Good news, help is at hand. Research the 'Golden Rod shift linkage'. Then install one.

Shifting will improve noticeably.

And I'm sure it has already been mentioned, but check out lowering & Model Year 2002 Carrera 5-spoke rims.

Cheers,

Paul.

Sounds like you got a great deal on a good condition-993, & that it's in lucky to be in such an appreciative new home. Enjoy.

Thanks for the photos & follow-up --

I love 993 stories with happy endings!

... & that's not just innuendo about 'buffing & waxing'

+1 looks like you scored a good deal.

Thanks for posting the pictures, that had to be exciting to see your car being unloaded for the first time. Enjoy in good health!
