I just got a 1995 993 C4 that might need a clutch. The pedal goes pretty high before grabbing and I feel some slipping driving through the gears at high revs. So I'm trying to get some prices from the forum on C4 clutch replacement. Both Porsche shops and Independent mechs. Please send prices you have had and types of clutches you have used.
Thanks
Steve

This is about right though it was many years ago when I had mine done. I also ended up going with a new flywheel $$$ and master cylinder when I did mine. Total with parts and labor was almost $4000 by an independent Porsche specialist. This was in 2004. Labor rate was $70/hr.

Thanks guys for the update on the clutch prices. I guess they can be all over the price scale. Does the fact that it is a C4 make it more expensive? Does the engine have to come out? Someone had told me to figure on about $2k for stock clutch replacement. Should I wait until the clutch is gone and can't drive the car or do it now to prevent breakdowns?

What is thought of as the best performance option that is reasonable? OEM RS and LWF? Will that setup work on a C4? I may start collecting parts, even though mine has only 30k on it.

I think it'll work fine, although w/ the 95 you possibly have the stalling issues. My car was in the shop for this very upgrade almost exactly a year ago when my job started appearing to be in jeopardy so I cancelled the work.

Hi Steve,
You didn't say how many miles are on your car but, based on experience, we strongly recommend replacing the clutch slave cylinder and dual-mass flywheel (with the stock setup) at the same time for reliability. I usually replace the release fork bushings, as well.
