Why are there two brown leads into the left-side brake light
This-is-the-mod-of-the-week and I have everything ready but can't figure why the wiring is this way. NEED HELP.
I assume the white/brown (or is it white/red) is the power and brown in the ground;but why are there two browns into the left-side brake light? Does it matter which one is selected as the tap-into-wire? Any help greatly appreciated.
Those are the B/U light sockets in the center section. Tapping into them won't turn on the brake lights. Of the three wires coming to the brake light on the driver's side, I would tap into the brown wire (ground) and the black wire (hot) and run them to the respective ground and hot sides of the new brake light sockets.
NC: Thanks. I misspoke on the original post. Meant BU light, but the question was still lame. I didn't relize that the second ground on the BU light is just a return. I wasn't sure if it mattered where I tapped into the ground. I ran the power from the right rear brake light and used a speed-tap to the primary BU light ground. That way I only had to run one wire from the brake light. Nice mod, as it really lights up the rear. Thanks to everyone who has done this and posted help. The 3 phillips screws would have been perplexing 'cause of their length, without the advice from RL.
