I have been looking for a simple do it yourself HID install but their all either broken links or are only some of the steps...can someone point me in the direction to a simple DIY slim ballast HID install?
I searched a number of threads on the board and this one is the best for these slim kits that fit in the headlight bucket. I didn't want to modify anything on the car that I couldn't reverse so it was the perfect solution. If this link doesn't work, p.m. me and I'll figure it out. It should open on page 3 then look at posts 45 through 57. I am not running any in-line fuses as the new generation kits draw less current than the original Halogen system. I got the yellow bullet connectors from Ace Hardware and decent wire strippers have a crimping tool built into the handle (excuse if you know this already, I didn't). https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...et-hids-3.html

Thank you so much! That was the prefect diy i was looking for.....finished the first headlight in 40 mins and the second one in 10 mins. After a quick run through the canyon I am so glad I got this, huge improvement
Look on the left side, it says "Forum" then click onto
"Porsche 993 - Technikecke - Luftgekühlt"
drop down to the page 3 or 4, it's title is:
"Einbau 4x55Watt"
The link wouldn't work if I post it in here. It'll always start the home page and not at the article itself.
The pics will pretty much show you everything you might want to ask.
The only thing you don't see is the extension cables from the ballast to the burners. I used silicone shielded wires with super seal connectors.
Any questions, PM me.
The light output is incredible.
This conversion was done for show purpose only and was afterwards removed!

Glad to hear it! It's a great DIY and once you get rolling, it's a snap. What a difference in light, eh? It kind of freaked me out at first on country roads, seeing all those little critter eye's staring at me from the ditch that I couldn't see before ...

It's the big critters that made me pull the trigger on this upgrade. I've never hit a moose, elk or deer but had a few close calls. I don't want to think what kind of damage an encounter with one of these animals would do although I've seen pics.
