Default Fan Question

How many of you hear the fan running after you shut the car off? I have only ever heard mine kick on for a couple of seconds maybe twice since I had the car.

Seems like when the ambient temp is above 90*F and I have driven the car for a while with the temp at 9 o'clock the rear of the car gets pretty heat soaked. Then when I park in the garage, I notice the fan will cycle on and off for at least 15 minutes (with the garage door partially open to vent).

I think this duration is shorter when parked outside with any sort of breeze.

I daily drive mine so this is a regular cycle for 3 months out of the year. Even if this "cooling" operation is of limited effect, I'm still glad it's there. No RS tube for me!

It's a very infrequent event for me, even on a hot day with oil temps past 9 o'clock on the gauge. I know it's working since it will cycle on when I turn the key to the position just before cranking the engine.

After fitting a new temp sensor mine does after a long ... hard drive. Stays on for about 5 mins, in England, where it rains, a lot.

Mine never turns on; only if the key is in the ignition and turned to accessories, then it stays on forever. Hmmmm. Relay maybe?

The sensor degrades over time eventually going open circuit.

Occasionally. First time it happened I was surprised but not alarmed. It made sense. This is South Carolina.

On a very warm day, I have heard the fan cycle on. Not too often

Mine runs a lot in the Georgia heat, especially if I've been exercising the engine by staying in lower gears longer.

I had the fan run on for a while. Not happened since. Forget the circumstance, but has not happened since.
