Default targa oem wheels

What are the wheels called that you most often see on a targa? They have polished lips and painted center and look as though they are two piece wheels. Did they come as 17 or 18 inch? I assume they where only on NB cars? I've got the itch for another set of wheels and think the polished rim would look good against a back car. Also like the idea of sticking to a wheel that is period correct for the car. Anyone have a picture of these on a black car?

As for a picture of them on a black car just search out a few threads with "targa" in the subject.

Is that an oem wheel? I doesn't look the same to me as the wheels that you see on a targa. What were these wheels called?

That's the OEM Targa wheel AFAIK, know as the "993 Targa" according to wheelenhancement's site. Here's the whole list:

Here's a thread with some good shots:

2 piece design by Speedline IIRC, definitely OEM, unique to the Targas. They are a bit heavy....some people say that PAG did this to offset the higher CG caused by the Targa roof assembly (remember, PAG supplied a lighter set of wheel lugs on the 996TT/GT2 in order to save a few ounces of unsprung mass)

IMHO, the Targa wheel, the 964/993 Speedlines and the 99x GT3 wheels are the most beautiful OEM wheels in recent years.

Thanks for these links. For some reason I was thinking they were a little different looking. I guess I thought that they had a polished lip which they do not. Thanks again for setting me straight!

Im not 100% sure but I think its Metallic Midnight Blue.....in need of a wax. Marble Grey interior.

its a great ocean-blue in the sunlight and almost black at night.
