Who cares? Ferrari is owned by Fiat, Ford (For God's sake!) owned Jaguar, Bugatti is owned by some middle eastern group (I think)...We drive Porsches...If there is ongoing demand for such an automobile, VW will continue the marque...If the demand isn't there, then it's gone.....Just like Dusenburg, Hudson, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Studebaker, and any number of tother established companies that couldn't survive. **** happens.

A friend has a 99 Jetta with 289,000 miles....great cars. Look the 911 or 993 is nothing but a flattened beetle. This was my 375 hp beetle that I use to run at DE events and **** off many Porsche folks...

This whole thing was driven solely by the ego of WW, period.
VAG will hopefully take a very good look at the Porsche lineup and begin eliminating models that compete with their planned vehicles and also eliminate the ridiculous # of variants/special editions (basically the marketing department playing mix/match with the parts bin and some decals/badges).
And yes, most people look at a 911 and refer to it as a VW with the engine in the back, like a Beetle.

This deal would have went through if:
1. The Volkswagen law would have fallen. It is amazing that the EU pulled back on this where they enforce other much more minor things. WW underestimated the politicians and the influence of the German Chancellor in the EU
2. The financial crisis would not have hit
At the end it is amazing that Piech forgets who made him a Billionaire. But this all does not count when it comes to a dog fight between two very strong egos. It appears that Piech is going to win and WW will be dumped next week after board meeting of VW.
